'Blade Runner: Nexus Rebellion' 3D animation - 2009
This is an animation I did for university, it is based on the movie Blade Runner, I decided to create a car chase scene, mainly because the Blade Runner movie is more character and story driven, though it is a masterpiece, it has very little action compared to other movies, the chase scene was also chosen as a change of theme, my 3D work is always set inside small rooms, so I decided create something challenging but visually interesting.
I also wanted to try and add a little of my own style to the animation, by adding a new more futuristic car, though Ridley Scott create something amazing, its always interesting to see if I could try out his style when applied to other ideas.
Overall, I am very proud of this animation, given the short time period I was given to create it, but one day I hope to modify the animation and make it much more realistic to how I originally envisioned it, I hope you enjoy.
The premise for this animation is that it is set a number of years after the 'BLADE RUNNER' movie, in which most of the Nexus androids are rebelling and planning war against the human race, only a few good Blade Runner and soldier units are available to help put a stop to the destruction of mankind.
The original video is actually in 4:3 ratio, but was altered to 16:9 during rendering, any alteration degraded the picture quality, I also choose not to use music from the Blade Runner film in case of copyright infringement.
Created and Animated by Shaun Thomas Millington.
Music from Mass Effect.
'Blade Runner: Nexus Rebellion' 3D animated cars turntable
These are the two cars I created and used in my animation, they are medium detail due to the fact I spent three quarters of the time I had working on these cars.
They came out better than I originally though, I didn't even think I would complete just one car, never mind two.
